LDT-503: U3: Signature Assignment Checkpoint and ACE instructional visual

During my research I thought about how the students would be able to use visuals in my class while ensuring that it is a learning experience with pictures and simple explanations. I wanted to be able to take into consideration that the students have a short attention span. The visuals shared allowed me to take into consideration that the students I teach are young. I wanted to use colors, simple words, and engaging images. The challenge that I had was being able to apply what I wanted to share in a kid friendly infographic. Ensuring that I use Adobe, which I recently learned how to manipulate, allowed for me to create my visual for the students. Being able to add arrows to my picture helps students to see that there is a beginning to ending point with sequential steps to share information about the life cycle of a butterfly. They help the viewers know which part of an image or text is being emphasized so they can effectively focus their attention (Malamed, 2023).

I believe the visual I used to be simple and informative for students. I would read the story by Eric Carle, The Very Hungry Caterpillar, so that students can connect with the life cycle of a butterfly. Students would be able to share their findings by creating a book of their own implementing the life cycle of a butterfly. I think I could also include numbers to share the steps of all pictures to improve my infographic. I would share the visual infographic to see how the students convey the information shared. I would also ensure to change the colors if necessary and to create a fun font to make it more appealing.

Modern research tells us that working memory has a limited processing capacity and also that we can attend to around four chunks of information at a time (Malamed, 2015).

The use of the ACE model helped me to implement the visual for students so that it may be age appropriate. I wanted to share information to also build upon the use of new vocabulary words for the students to use like chrysalis and life cycle.

This was an effective way to share the model from module three. I appreciate learning added information from this course and program.
