Instructional Design Project Reflection

In this course of LDT 502-Design and Development of Instruction, the process of creating an instructional design was challenging. The process and revisions allowed us to implement the expectations of our professor. We were given feedback to develop a thorough step by step process for our target learners to follow. In doing so, we were able to provide a better understanding of our project content. The revision would also allow our learners to understand the instructional objective. We also had to include diverse ways of differentiating the content for learners. We had videos to share how to download DaVinci Resolve, to edit, export, and embed content to meet the expectations of our viewers. Being able to create clear instructions is important so that target learners do not get confused. We had to remember that effective, efficient, and engaging instruction helps to motivate our target learners.

The goals of the outline, after making the revisions needed, allowed for a better flow of the content being shared. We had to create an assessment to collect data for our target learners. In reviewing the assessment, this would allow us to see if learners were learning what we wanted them to learn, while the instruction ensures that they have learned it. If there is alignment, then target learners can better understand the relevance of their work. This allows them to see the value of their work. The step of Instructional design is assessing learners needs, development of content, implementation, and evaluation. Having a deep understanding of instructional design process is a critical skill for learning designers because without it, creating targeted, effective learning experiences can be difficult if not impossible. This is shared in unit 1 module. Instructional design is viewed as an iterative design process that emphasizes cycles of continuous improvement and redesign.

The delivery of the instructional design was clarified with the use of Learning Management Systems using issued university laptops.

An objective will communicate your intent to the degree you describe what the learner will be doing when demonstrating achievement of the objective, the important conditions of the achievement of the objective, the important conditions of the doing, and the criterion by which achievement will be judged.

Just as it was stated in module three, Instructional objectives are a foundational component in the design and development of effective instruction and if you think of the instruction you are designing as a “learning journey.” This is what our group had to keep in mind when we created the step-by-step process for our project. It allowed me to reflect on how I would understand what I was doing in the realm of a learner.

Group B had to collaborate and meet to share our ideas and revise a better flow of our instructional design for Beginners to create media using DaVinci Resolve. We had to come to a consensus of putting our content together and sharing our ideas. At first, we did not collaborate and agree with one another, but we came to an agreement. As we continuously met, we were able to share our strengths with one another. This allowed us to have a better flow of implementing what was needed.

The use of LMS has increased in recent years. When instructional media is shared through LMS, it is easily accessible for learners at their desired time and place. It does not have to be in a standard classroom setting. It has become more relevant and manageable with the help of ITs  if any type of troubleshooting is needed.

According to Rottmann et al. (2020), No matter the delivery method, an LMS is supposedly designed to foster learner-centered approaches with integrated learning activities grounded in learning objectives making it the most advanced tool for facilitating learning.

I reflect to not knowing much about learning design and its elements in education. I remember having to do a crash course on how to utilize technological platforms to create engaging activities and lessons for students during the pandemic. Having experienced what we have endured during that time made me understand the importance of gaining more knowledge about learning design and technology in education. I investigated the program at Arizona State University and decided to further my understanding of this program. I want to be effective in gaining new knowledge to apply my teachings in the world of education. The knowledge I obtain will help me to better educate the learners for the future. It is crucial to obtain knowledge in the technological realm of education.

The experience of collaborating with a group to develop an instructional course gave me insight into what expectations are acquired. This allowed me to have practice and firsthand experience with what is entailed in learning design. I look forward to implementing and learning more about building the necessary skills acquired to meet the needs of all students and stakeholders.

It was a revelation. With more practice, I should be able to take my teaching to a deeper level of teaching.

I appreciate all that were a part of this experience and look forward to expanding my knowledge in learning design and technology in education. I am appreciative of our professors that took the time to differentiate ways of teaching me to better understand the contents in this program.

Thank you with my deepest appreciation.
