LDT 502: WOL - My Goals As A Learning Designer

Why am I here?

One Short Term Goal: What do I hope to accomplish by the end of this course?

As I sit and reflect on what I want to accomplish, I think about the well-being of all students that I teach. Teachers continue to gain new knowledge of what is new in the technological world and to ensure enriched learning for all students. We want to continue to be coordinated with programs and in accordance with standards to meet educational programs aligned with Navajo culture and language. I need to have knowledge to be effective and a highly educated teacher for future generations to come.

I would like to continue to gain knowledge on the systematic process of designing and developing instruction. I want to be able to gain a deeper understanding of what is entailed with effective and targeted learning. It will help me to learn to apply my teachings and what I learn into the classroom I teach. It will also help me to be a better leader for other teachers. I would like to gain the skills and knowledge to provide educational and engaging experiences for all stakeholders.

In the readings of module one, the history and timeline significance of instructional design and technology have been emphasized in various fields of professions. Distance learning has become more prominent and the choice for education due to the pandemic we have encountered in recent years. It has rapidly increased with the use of internet according to Robert A. Reiser (2001). It is to my surprise that radios, projectors, television, and innovative technologies continue to enhance their developments with time. Schools continue to keep LMS and programs on student’s laptops for students to have access in case we need to be prepared for occurrences like those that happened in the past.

I look forward to gaining new knowledge and applications to incorporate into my classroom as I move through this program.

Medium Term Goal: What do I hope to accomplish by Midpoint of the LDT program?

I want to apply my teachings in the leadership role that I currently hold. I would like to assist the coaches that attend our schools to ensure we utilize the curriculum as needed. I would like to make recommendations as needed to ensure that all students are growing with the data provided. Through monitoring and intervention for individualization, all students will show progress in areas of weakness. I want to see student growth. This course will allow for me to analytically think and find resources for effective instruction.

The use of communication is crucial to disseminate information to all stakeholders such as administrators and teachers. This will allow for all to be a part of student success and to provide adequate educational goals for academic achievement.

I want to be able to share the knowledge I obtain to have more confidence and pride. This will allow me to share my knowledge and teachings. My focus would be on face-to-face instruction along with hybrid instruction depending on what is expected of me. This program could be branched out to other professions other than being a teacher. This will also allow me to add to what I already know. My status in profession will branch out.

Long Term Goal: What do I hope to accomplish by the end of the program?

By the end of this program, I want to be able to apply theories and practices with ease for instruction and training. I want to share teachings with my colleagues and all that would benefit. I feel that the more you know the better opportunities there may be. Being able to follow a structured learning design will allow for me to share information and teachings that are effective and meaningful. I would be better prepared to align the resources needed to enhance student and teacher growth. I can evaluate my findings to share information on what works best or what is needed for enhancement. There is always room to continuously improve academically. It also provides me with  a sense of purpose and fulfillment. I want to ensure that I could be a great asset to my community and workplace. I would like to work hand in hand with instructional coaches to meet expectations and standards for student success. I come from a school that prides itself on incorporating Navajo culture and language. We are known throughout our region for addressing the importance of K’e (kinship). Traditional teachings and attire are shared throughout the school year. We pride ourselves in teaching our language. We provide services and programs to enhance language and traditional teachings.

Students are our focus for all decisions we make. I want to ensure that decisions are made for the academic progress of all students. Funds must be approved with data for programs to be utilized. We must ensure that we meet the needs and see student growth. If we want to be coordinated with the nation then we need to align curriculum and standards accordingly.

The completion of this program will provide me with more knowledge. I will be able to apply skills and knowledge to my resume. It would show that I am willing to grow and learn new skills necessary to be highly qualified in my profession. It allows me to show my own community and family that education is never ending. There is always something to learn.

I appreciate all that I have learned up to this point in my life. I was a bit intimidated and unsure when I first entered this program. As we move through courses, I feel empowered that I am doing this thus far. I am amazed by the knowledge that professors and colleagues have in this course. I have immense pride in sharing this program with others. It allows me to feel confident. There are people in this course that come from everywhere. I enjoy meeting new people and hearing what they must share. There are so many professions that can be utilized with this program. I am appreciative of all that we learn and continue to learn. I hope to see many changes as I continue this program. I will reflect on this WOL post in the future. I look forward to venturing with everyone. 😊
